Message From Shyra

Can you believe we're already in the month of February? Looks like this year is going to be another one that flies right by. Remember that each day is another opportunity you have to work on achieving your goals. We can just let another year slip by us where we are in the same position again another year. Have you put together that step by step action plan yet? Once you've completed something on it, cross it off and move on to the next step. It's a wonderful feeling of accomplishment when you've noticed all of the "cross offs" that on that list. I've had the opportunity to sit and chat with a few folks who admitted that they limited themselves from reaching their goals. They mentioned how they wanted to blame their reasons for not being where they are on other people or other things, but they realized that they were the actual blame. They allowed something or someone to interfere with their progress. What I've learned throughout the years is to not just settle! If you've approached a hurdle, take your time to figure out a solution to get around or over that hurdle. There are plenty of resources available and you can't let that hurdle get the best of you to a point of where you give up. Constantly giving up results in constantly being a failure and in order to win, you have to put yourself in position and develop a plan. Many successful people have had hurdles in their lives, but they didn't just settle and give up. They had a "plan b" or "plan c" in place and that's what we need to do as well. Always think ahead and be prepared for any obstacle that comes. Each and every one of us is SOMEBODY, and any of us can do whatever we set our minds to do. So if you haven't already done so, get out that sheet of paper and start putting that action plan together. It might start with changing your surroundings, your mindset or even spending time at a bookstore or online to do some research to learn how to pursue your passion. Today is the day to start believing in yourself and accomplishing your dreams!

Tips From Shyra

Research It!

We gotta be careful with all of the hype talk that's out there today. Remember the old saying, "If it's too good to be true, it probably is"? Well, sadly it's been the case for many within the last few years and folks have found out the hard way. Be sure that you research every opportunity or item that is presented to you before you jump right into it. The internet is a powerful tool and it's available 24/7 so use it. If you type in Google or any other search engine, a company name or person's name and then type in the word "complaint" or scam after it, you can sometimes see what others have experienced or see if there are any public records revealed online that possibly exposes secrets which were kept from you. You can also log onto the Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org to research companies before making decisions to join. There is also another website called RipOff Report (www.ripoffreport.com) that allows consumers to post their complaints or experiences with companies as well. Now keep in mind, that all information might not be completely accurate, but it's always good to do your research to see if you are seeing the same complaint multiple times or at lease see what you might need to pay attention to closely. The content might even assist you with questions to ask when dealing with the potential person or company you are inquiring about. Know that being an educated consumer does pay off so begin today in researching items that make you say, "Hmmm...".

No Body's Listening Anymore

By Tom Dwyer

Get ready. It's a whole new world and it's basically this...No one is paying attention any more. There's a marketing crisis in our digital economy that every business owner or manager must adapt to.

The ever-present marketing messages are creating this marketing crisis. Consider these facts. Noted in The Marketing Crisis That Money Won't Solve by Seth Godin, each of us is being literally bombarded by as much as four hours of media messages every day. Some 17,000 new grocery products are advertised every year. Thousands of dollars of advertisements are mailed directly to your door. With the advent of cable television we now have hundreds of channels, most working around the clock to get your attention. In addition, now satellite radio is following the same route.

Of course this doesn't mention brand names on clothes, bumper stickers, sporting events and sports venues, your local paper, and, of course, those "pop-ups" on the WEB.

It's getting harder and harder to find a little peace and quiet.

Get It In Writing!

There may be individuals out there who tend to cloud your business judgment. People may try to deliberately tell lies to you or pretend to be friends with you just to get money, information or use out of you that benefits themselves only. It can be disappointing at times when this occurs considering you are newly in business for yourself and you are putting trust in those you feel are truly your friend. Always look at putting together a contract when partnering up with anyone or doing business with anyone. Protect yourself and your company.

“Pick Shyra’s Brain”

Question: I have a business idea that I want to pursue, but am not getting positive support from my family.  Sometimes I really feel as if I’m alone.  Is this something you’ve ever experienced?  If so, how did you deal with it?

Answer: DEFINTELY!!!  You are not alone in this area.  People ask me this question all the time!  I’ve experienced “Real Life” lessons and some of them have been unpleasant, but they were lessons I needed to go through to learn and to be prepared for in my business.  EVERYONE will not be as excited about your idea as you are and you need to know that it’s ok.  You may not always get the support you want from your spouse, family or even close friends, but you can’t let any negative feedback or energy from them deflate your excitement.  Keep moving and learning how to work your new business idea and don’t let anyone get in the way.   What’s for you is for YOU!  There are plenty of networking or support groups out there with folks of liked interests so begin attending some of these meetings to help you stay on track with accomplishing your dreams.  A great resource to locate some is www.meetup.com.  You won’t believe who finally comes around when things are going well and you become successful!  The funny part is some might even begin to take some credit for your success!  Just be prepared!
